I flew through this book in just 3 days - a real page-turner! Have you ever wondered how far you'd go to save the life of someone you love? Gary Foster was forced to answer this questions when his wife was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Regular treatment didn't work. They needed $200,000 for an experimental treatment in Germany that looked promising for his wife's case. Efforts to raise money were slow-moving...until a man offers to pay for everything. He'll give Gary all $200,000....if he'll murder a corrupt police officer. Gary is forced to answer the question, To save the one you love, is there any price you wouldn’t pay?

I experienced so many feelings and emotions reading this book: suspense, annoyance, fear, disgust. The book was suspenseful nearly from beginning to end. What will happen? How will this play out? Who will win in the end? Is there any way for this to have a happy ending? I was annoyed at Gary throughout much of this book. He made some pretty stupid mistakes. Has he never seen an episode of Law and Order? Doesn't he know all the ways in which criminals can be caught?! I was fearful that the bad guys (and identifying who is good and bad in this book was difficult at times!) would win. And disgust - there were some gruesome ways in which people die in this book and I was sitting in a coffee shop grimacing openly. There are parts of this book you shouldn't read while eating.

If you've ever thought that maybe, just maybe, you'd be willing to murder a bad person to save the life of a good person - this book will make you rethink that decision. So much can go wrong - even if you aren't making stupid mistakes like Gary. Ugh, I'm still so frustrated and annoyed with some of the decisions he made. I mean, he was Googling the guy he was asked to murder on his cell phone. Writing down his plans. Hiding evidence in his home and at his store. Printing off anonymous notes from his home printer. I mean, Gary was asking to be caught.

Regardless of Gary's careless mistakes, I did enjoy the book. I thought the story was compelling - if you had the opportunity to save your spouse, how far would you go? How much are you willing to risk? The book was definitely a page-turner. I was always eager to find out what happened next and I was left guessing how everything would wrap up until the very end. I kept wondering, How is Gary going to get out of this? I certainly didn't expect the ending. I actually really liked how the author chose to end the book - left somewhat open-ended but still wrapping up the major plot lines. If you're a fan of murder mystery - I think you'll enjoy this one. If you're looking for a book to "lose yourself in" or a real page-turner - you'll definitely want to pick this one up!
