The Last Letter from Your Lover

Book Review - The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes

I read this book in just a couple days - I had to know how it ended. It reminded me a lot of An Affair to Remember with the addition of a researcher digging through newspaper archives (which reminded me of myself!) Jojo Moyes is one of those authors I turn to when I'm looking for a book that will pull me in immediately and allow me to lose myself in the story. Her books are often page-turners that I can't put down - the perfect books to read when you have a full day to spare (perhaps sitting on the beach or curled up in front of the fire on a snow day.)

There are two stories. The first takes place in 1960 when Jennifer Stirling wakes up in the hospital and is unable to remember anything about her life. She can't remember how she got to the hospital, she can't remember her husband, she can't remember her own name. But she finds a love letter simply signed B, which is clearly not from her husband. Who was this man and why was she willing to risk her marriage for him? The second story takes place in 2006 when Ellie Haworth finds the letter and begins to research what happened to the Jennifer and B.

Obviously, I'm Ellie - It would be just like me to find a letter and then get lost in the research trying to discover everything I could about the two love birds. I'm a romantic and a historian, the perfect combination to fall head over heels for this book.
