Book Review - Wonder by R. J. Palacio

I love the message in this book! "Shall we make a new rule of life...always to try to be a little kinder than is necessary?" This is something we could all be reminded of every now and again (or every day!)

August Pullman was born with a facial difference so extreme that until now he hasn't be able to attend a mainstream school. The story is told primarily from August's perspective, but we also hear from his sister, his sister's boyfriend, August's classmates, and a few others to give us a well-rounded understanding of kindness, acceptance, and friendship.

Read this book with a group of friends, it is worth discussing with others. Which character do you most relate to? How would you react to August today? How would you have reacted to August in high school or middle school? How might your reactions change after reading this book? How has your understanding of physical differences changed after reading this book?

If you don't have a group of friends to read this with, message me on Facebook! I'll talk it out with you.
