Orphan Train

Orphan Train

Book Review - Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline

One of the best books I've read recently! It's about a young orphan who takes a train from New York to Minnesota, with the assistance of an adoption agency, in hopes of finding a new family. Actually, there are two stories: Vivian Daly is the 91-year-old woman who is hiding her past as an orphan-train rider and Molly Ayer, a troubled foster kid about to age out of the system. Molly is sentenced to community service in order to avoid juvenile detention. Her assignment? To help Vivian clean out her home. In the process, she discovers she and Vivian have more in common than she realized.

Yes, as you may have noticed by now, I LOVE stories about going through old stuff in long-forgotten attics with the elderly telling stories to the youth. I have a weakness for these stories and they will continue to rank highly on Hasty Book List. I hope you're used to it by now. Better yet, I hope you've come to appreciate them as much as I do.
