Second Life
Book Review - Second Life by S. J. Watson
The story of a woman seeking answers about her sister's murder. In the process she becomes involved with a dangerous stranger online. Are answers to her sister's brutal murder worth risking her marriage, her family and everything else she holds dear in her life? My favorite quote from the book was,
"I realize with sudden clarity that we're wearing masks, all of us, all the time. We're presenting a face, a version of ourselves, to the world, to each other. We show a different face depending on who we're with and what they expect of us. Even when we're alone, it's just another mask, the version of ourselves we'd prefer to be."
This one quote alone could spark a great conversation in a book club. What kind of masks do you wear? Is there anyone who sees you for exactly who you are? How does your mask change at work, at school, at home, or in the grocery store? Do you agree that you wear a mask when you're alone?
So. Much. To. Unpack.
