Life's Accessories: A Memoir and Fashion Guide
Book Review - Life's Accessories: A Memoir and Fashion Guide by Rachel Levy Lesser
I can’t remember exactly how I first heard about this book or how it ended up on my pile of to-reads. I mean, I can guess by the title and cover what first piqued my interest…the fashion connection is pretty obvious. However this book ended up on my bookshelf, I’m so glad it did. This was a delightful, short read that made the perfect palette cleanser after a long, stressful day.
Rachel Levy Lesser takes us on a journey through her life with short vignettes about accessories she wore at different stages of her life. We start with a Signet Ring Sans Family Crest she wore to help her fit in among her peers in school to her first professional work bag to “push presents.” The stories were charming, and heartfelt, and fun to read. I like the author’s brand of humor, even when she is talking about difficult subjects like not fitting in among school friends or new moms.
If you’re looking for a book that will entertain but also touches on significant life moments, then you’ll really love Life’s Accessories: A Memoir and Fashion Guide by Rachel Levy Lesser. I also learned something, believe it or not! I’d never heard of a Twilly and now I think I’ve been missing out for not owning one. So note to my family: look for a Twilly if you can’t figure out what to get me this holiday season! ;-)
