Books for the Spooky Season

The spooky season refers to the time of year leading up to Halloween, which is celebrated on October 31st. During this time, people often decorate their homes with spooky decorations such as jack-o'-lanterns, fake cobwebs, and skeletons. They also wear costumes and attend Halloween parties or go trick-or-treating. Many people enjoy watching horror movies or reading scary stories to get into the Halloween spirit. The spooky season is a fun and exciting time for those who enjoy the thrills and chills of all things spooky and supernatural.

Imagine this: As the sun sets and the shadows grow long, you curl up on your favorite armchair with a spooky book in hand. You pull a cozy blanket over your knees as a chill runs up your spine, setting the mood for the eerie tale you are about to read.

The pages rustle as you turn to the first chapter, and the words draw you into a world of ghouls, ghosts and things that go bump in the night. The flickering candle casts dancing shadows on the walls, enhancing the spooky atmosphere.

As you delve deeper into the story, your heart races and goosebumps prick your skin. You can feel the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, as you become completely absorbed in the spine-tingling narrative.

Outside, the wind howls and branches scrape against the window pane, adding to the eerie ambiance. You just can't resist turning the pages faster, eager to know how the story ends, but also dreading the horrifying conclusion.

Finally, as the last chapter draws to a close, you let out a sigh of relief and set the book down. You sit for a moment, taking in the atmospheric setting, before getting up and shaking off the spooky feeling. As you walk away, you can't help but feel a sense of satisfaction mixed with a lingering sense of unease.

But what book are you reading? Scroll down to find out…

Wings Once Cursed & Bound by Piper J. Drake

Wings Once Cursed & Bound, the first book in the Mythwoven series, is a bold and captivating fantasy that effortlessly blends modern magic with Thai and Southeeast Asian mythology, perfect for fans fans of Sarah J. Mass and Jennifer Armentrout.

The author says, “The story of มโนห์รา (romanized spelling: Manora) has always been my favorite. And really, I would love it if กินรี (kinnaree), bird people who live deep in the forests of the Himmapan, became every bit as recognizable to us today as werewolves or vampires or witches or fae.”

Peeraphan Rahttana, Thai bird princess known as The Kinnaree, has stepped into The Red Shoes and is now cursed to dance to her death unless Bennet Andrews—who represents a secret organization dedicated to locating and acquiring objects of myth and magic—is able to break it. If they don’t, she will be lost in darkness…forever.
