Her Last Flight
Book Review - Her Last Flight by Beatriz Williams
I’m back with another fantastic Beatriz Williams novel. You may have seen my book review of The Wicked City, The Summer Wives, The Golden Hour, or my book feature of The Wicked Redhead, and All the Ways We Said Goodbye (a book Beatriz co-wrote with Lauren Willig and Karen White.) So it is obviously no secret that I’m a fan of her work. At this point, I think she is a household name for all historical fiction fans like me. Right, guys?
Her Last Flight by Beatriz Williams is loosely inspired by Amelia Erhardt’s story. Janey Everett is on a mission to find aviatrix Irene Foster to ask her about her flying partner Sam Mallory’s disappearance and assumed death. She discovers an Irene Lindquist living in Kauai running a local island-hopping airline and Janey is convinced she is actually Irene Foster. The story jumps back and forth between the retelling of Irene Foster’s life with Sam Mallory and Janey Everett’s time with Irene.
As always, Beatriz Williams wove together a beautiful story of fascinating women with complex histories. Both Janey and Irene were really well developed with wonderful backstories that were revealed at just the right moment. I just love that I can count on Beatriz Williams to deliver a book I can’t put down. Whether you’re a longtime fan of her books or this is your first introduction, I think you’ll enjoy this historical novel about aviation.
