My name is Molly Fehr. I’m an artist and designer based in New York City. By day I work as a Senior Designer designing young adult, middle grade, and picture books at HarperCollins Publishers. And by night I’m a freelance illustrator focusing on children’s books, but I also work on illustrated map and lettering projects. When I’m not creating, you can usually expect me to be daydreaming about living in a cottage in the woods, catching up on my reading, or spending time outdoors.

Inspiration for I’ll Be the One by Lyla Lee:

I’ll Be the One was all about K-pop! It was so much fun to dive into this world and create such a bright and joyful cover. I worked with photographer Michael Frost and Tanya Frost to coordinate a photoshoot that evoked everything K-pop, down to the set, costuming, model, and pose. Shoot day was full of high energy and our model Isabel brought all of her killer dance moves! After shoot day, I delved more into researching the design of K-pop materials such as album covers, merch, and ad campaigns in order to create a title treatment and jacket package that felt like it fit into the look of this industry.
