Under the Southern Sky
Book Feature - Under the Southern Sky by Kristy Woodson Harvey
HBL Note: My friend Kit has generously shared her experience going through IVF and infertility on her blog, The Kittchen (read a couple of her posts here and here.) She’s taught me a lot about how to approach the subject with sensitivity and understanding. Although her story ended with a beautiful baby girl, she is keenly aware not all IVF journeys have such a happy ending. I commend Kristy Woodson Harvey for tackling the difficult subjects of IVF, surrogacy, and loss while giving voice to women who’ve gone through it. From the publisher:
When dedicated journalist Amelia Buxton discovers a cluster of embryos belonging to her childhood friend Parker and his late wife Greer have been deemed “abandoned,” she must face the difficult task of telling Parker—and dredging up old wounds in the process. But once Amelia reveals her discovery, Parker knows that if he ever wants to get a part of Greer back, he’ll need to accept his fate as a single father and find a surrogate. Their journey of self-discovery leads them to an unforgettable and life-changing lesson: Family—the one you’re born into and the one you choose—is always closer than you think.
