Author I draw inspiration from:
Anne Rice - powerhouse writer and truly interesting human being
Favorite place to read a book:
In the reading corner of my bedroom in my white leather chair with a blanket on my lap.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with:
Matthew Clairmont (A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness) Well, given that Matthew is a vampire being stuck in an elevator probably wouldn't work out well but I will take my chances :)
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author:
After I won an award for a series of sci-fi short stories I wrote about a futuristic classroom. I was in the sixth grade.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook:
I love hardback and paperback books best. I read a lot of ebooks because it's easy to carry them with me in my iPhone wherever I go . My husband is a huge audiobook fan but I prefer reading a book to listening to a book.
The last book I read:
The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel. I loved it! I gorged on all of her other books after that. She's a fantastic writer and storyteller.
Pen & paper or computer:
I often do short writing exercises using paper and pen but when I am in the fullswing of a project, I switch to my laptop.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with:
Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.) She is smart and sharp and witty and honest and, at times, impulsive, and headstrong. I love everything about her! I am sure we would have the best time hanging out together, either in 1812 England or 2024 Los Angeles.
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a:
the person who invents all the names of nail polish colors.
Favorite decade in fashion history:
Eighties big hair baby!
Place I’d most like to travel:
Portugal - I have never been to Lisbon and hear such great stories about it.
My signature drink:
Love a glass of Pinot Grigio
Favorite artist:
Barbara Kruger because your body is a battleground. Now more than ever.
Number one on my bucket list:
Seeing the Northern Lights
Anything else you'd like to add:
If you feel the call to write, answer the call. Don't wait for a perfect time to write because that means you will be waiting forever. Just pick up you pen and get going. Don't think. Just write.
