A foolish affair gives a mom an unexpected do-over, sending her ten years back to an alternate reality. Her kids don’t exist, her best friend hates her and even stranger, a formerly-dead friend is still alive. Desperate to see her kids, she questions whether her old life is worth the death of another.

Author I draw inspiration from: I have drawn inspiration from a variety of authors. The author that spurred my interest in writing was Philippa Gregory and her Tudor Series. Since expanding my work, some of the authors whose work I admire and aspire to be like include, Taylor Jenkins Reid, Lainey Cameron, Orly Konig and Alison Hammer.

Favorite place to read a book: My parents have a cottage up north where we spent a lot of time growing up. One of my all time favourite activities is taking a cocktail down to the dock with a good book. We have this awesome umbrella that lets you grab a bit of shade while enjoying a gentle summer breeze over the calm lake.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: I love to get a chance to spend a bit of time with Anne Boleyn. A historical figure but also a character in The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. I have always admired Anne, and while I do not 100% love the portrayal of her in this particular novel, she is one of the most fascinating characters in history and I'd love to hear her story from her own lips.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: It all began when I was still in my early twenties. My best friend and I went on a two month backpacking trip in Europe. Unfortunately we ran out of books to read within the first two weeks (Apparently you can't bring that many in a backpack!) When it was clear we were going to have to spend a lot of train rides empty handed, my friend picked up a notebook for me and I started writing a book for us to enjoy on the trip.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: I prefer paperback, but have fallen in love with audiobooks lately. And I just got a Kindle which is pretty addictive. So I guess, all of them?
The last book I read: I was lucky enough to get an ARC of We're All Lying by Marie Still, our March 2023. It is a very twisty thriller that deals with the aftermath of a torrid affair. It's definitely one that had me hooked from page one. I also just finished A House Full of Windsor by Kristin Contino. I have been a fan of Kristin's since we first met many years ago. We both share a love of all things royal, so when her sophomore novel was announced, I knew it would be right up my alley. Highly recommend.

Pen & paper or computer: While I do love a good notebook and fancy pen, I do most of my writing on a computer, tablet or phone.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: From A House Full of Windsor by Kristin Contino comes Sarah Percy. Lead of the talk show Sarah Says and organizer extraordinaire. Mostly, I just need her to come clean up my life!
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: I would likely be a website designer. I have a background in multimedia and have already worked on a variety of websites (typically just some back-end coding). But if I were not writing, I think designing would be my creative outlet.
Favorite decade in fashion history: Definitely the 90s. Chokers, Bell Bottoms and Tube Tops? Why not!
Place I’d most like to travel: There are plenty of places in Europe I'd love to visit again but one place I'd love to go for the first time is Iceland. Everything I've seen about the area is beautiful!
My signature drink: Well I am pretty basic, so probably a Vodka Soda, or White Wine.
Favorite artist: I think this is a music question? So I'm going to go with Miley Cyrus.
Number one on my bucket list: I am absolutely terrified of heights. But more than anything, I'd love to experience a hot air balloon ride. I may end up cowering in the corner of the basket, but that is beside the point!

Author Bio: Maggie Giles is a Canadian author who is usually daydreaming about fictional characters. Always looking for a new creative outlet, Maggie dove into writing a novel head first. She has been a member of the Women's Fiction Writers Association since 2014 where she works as their Social Media Director. She lives in Collingwood, Ontario with her Bullmastiff Cross. The Things We Lost is her first novel.
