Author Interview - Kristín Eiríksdóttir
Author I draw inspiration from: The first name that comes to mind is Alice Munro. I can barely finish her stories, because they are so rewarding, and always make me want to start writing myself.
Favorite place to read a book: Lately I have mostly been listening through my headphones while walking, or when I'm on the bus. I'm usually sitting down, looking at text all day, so this is refreshing.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Gandalf. He probably has good vibes.
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: When I was a teenager, maybe fourteen, I wrote in a school paper that when I grew up, I wanted to be a postman who writes poetry when off duty.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Paperback and audio.
The last book I read: The last book I finished in audio was The Examined Life, by Dr. Stephen Grosz. But in paperback it was Vernon Subutex vol. 2 by Virginie Despantes. I highly recommend both.
Pen & paper or computer: I occasionally scribble something down, out of fear of forgetting, then can't remember where I wrote it down! Otherwise I work on my computer.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: My favorite characters are usually really difficult people. I’ll have to think more on that!
If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: A clairvoyant.
Favorite decade in fashion history: Choosing from within the frame of personal experience, I pick my first decade: the eighties.
Place I’d most like to travel: I would like to travel on land, with my son, from Amsterdam to Athens. We’d trains and buses and have enough time and money to stop whenever we like, for as long as we like.
My signature drink: Water.
Favorite artist: Louise Bourgeouise
Number one on my bucket list: Adding to that trip with my son I mentioned—from Athens, we would sail over to Italy and stay there for a while. Then take the train through Switzerland, France and Belgium on our way back to Amsterdam, where my best friend lives.
