Author I draw inspiration from: Chris Cleave
Favorite place to read a book: In bed!
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Right now, Mary North from Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I can’t remember one moment. I didn’t think people like me did become authors so it was a gradual surprise! Every time I read a book that inspires me, however, I think I want to become a better author.

The last book I read: Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave
Pen & paper or computer: Computer
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Too many to choose from! I think when I was a child, however, that I would have loved Harrison Opoku from Pigeon English by Stephen Kelman - he’s so exuberant and optimistic. In terms of the classics, Emma from ‘Emma’ by Jane Austen, too - she seems like a lot of (meddling) fun!
If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: Actress or social worker (different ends of the spectrum there!)
Favorite decade in fashion history: 1950s
Place I’d most like to travel: San Francisco or the outer Hebrides
My signature drink: A margarita
Favorite artist: I love photography - so, Martin Parr and my friend and baby daddy (my son’s father!), Louis Quail who is an excellent documentary photographer.
Number one on my bucket list: Walk the coast of Britain
