Author Interview - Itamar S.N.
Author of White Smoke
White Smoke is, above all, a love story. A love between two men, patriotic love for one's country, and the primary love for all humans. I believe that it doesn't matter whether it's women's rights, LGBTQ rights, or minorities' rights. In the end, it all comes down to fundamental human rights, as we were all born naked, free, and equal.
Author I draw inspiration from: Haruki Murakami
Favorite place to read a book: In bed
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Definitely with the brilliant free spirit Tieta... The book carries its heroine name: Tieta, by Jorge Amado
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: There is not one pivotal moment. It goes back as far as my memories take me. It took 28 years to feel rich enough from within to evolve from poems and short stories to create a complex new world with multiple characters and plots. To write my first book.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Paperback & eBook
The last book I read: The Yacoubian Building, by Alaa-Al-Aswany
Pen & paper or computer: Sorry for the unromantic answer.... Only computer:)
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Eeyore, Winnie-the-Pooh, by A. A. Milne :)
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Restaurant owner or Middle Eastern crazy professor.
Favorite decade in fashion history: The first one, when we needed nothing but fig leaf
Place I’d most like to travel: Earth is so beautiful, I wish I could travel 90% of my time, but I will say the pyramids and the valley of the kings in Egypt.
My signature drink: Red wine
Favorite artist: So so many... I'll say Pedro Almodovar?
Number one on my bucket list: Become a bestseller. I cannot lie, this is number one
Anything else you'd like to add: Thank you for reading books in an era of Tik-Tok and the ADHD pandemic:)
