Author Interview - Holly Peterson
Author I draw inspiration from: Truman Capote for his “show don’t tell” genius in Breakfast at Tiffany’s — the first time I read it, I immediately started it again and read it again.
Favorite place to read a book: In my writing chair next to the fire with a heating pad on to stay extra toasty.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Anna Karenina — I’d tell her she didn’t need to jump on the tracks, that men stray all the time.
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: After 2 decades in television and magazine newsrooms I needed some peace and quiet.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Hardback of course!
The last book I read: Summer of ‘69 by my friend Elin Hilderbrand — I don’t understand how she writes two books a year!
Pen & paper or computer: Laptop on lap while lying down.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Holly Golightly.
If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: Professional surfer — in my dreams of course!
Favorite decade in fashion history: The 1960’s dresses for night — I have some precious 1960’s couture from my mother.
Place I’d most like to travel: The Maldives for surfing.
My signature drink: Grey Goose on rocks with truckloads of olives but no olive juice.
Favorite artist: Kara Walker.
Number one on my bucket list: Travel to India with my daughters.
Anything else you'd like to add: I’d like to write a couple of bestsellers for a dozen years straight like my friend Elin Hilderbrand — no problem!
