Author I draw inspiration from: There are so many. Mona Awad, Halle Butler, Emma Cline, Gillian Flynn, Shirley Jackson, Raven Leilani, Ling Ma, Goldy Moldavsky, Ottessa Moshfegh, and Curtis Sittenfeld are a few of the authors whose work has had the largest impact on me.

Favorite place to read a book: I can read literally anywhere, but my favorite place to do so has to be in my bed surrounded by blankets and pillows. I love to read myself to sleep.

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Violet Baudelaire from A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket—not least of which because she’d surely come up with a scheme to get us out.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I had always loved reading, but it wasn’t until my third grade teacher introduced me to the concept of short story writing that I realized it was actually a *job.* I've wanted to be an author ever since.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: I love the structure and feel of hardcovers, but appreciate the portability and lightness of paperbacks, so it’s a tie between physical formats.

The last book I read: The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

Pen & paper or computer: Computer, always. My hands cramp if I try to write by hand, and I need to be able to make adjustments to the prose as I go.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Berie Carr from Who Will Run the Frog Hospital? by Lorrie Moore

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: In my day job, I’m an editor and writer for digital media, mostly in the beauty and fashion space. I think I’d probably still be doing that!

Favorite decade in fashion history: This is really hard, but I’m partial to the ‘90s because that’s when I grew up.

Place I’d most like to travel: Japan and Greece

My signature drink: Honestly, coffee haha. But if we’re talking alcohol, probably a spicy Margherita.

Favorite artist: I’m obsessed with this tattoo artist and illustrator, Mira Mariah (@girlknewyork on instagram). She has a really distinctive style; I looked at her drawings a lot while writing FAN CLUB for inspiration.

Number one on my bucket list: Well, it used to be "publish a novel" so I think my bucket list needs an update!
