I posted my review of this one not too long ago, but I think it is worth mentioning again. I read it on my vacation to Cabo, Mexico and it was an easy, fun book to read on the beach. It is about a daughter about to embark on a summer trip across Europe to learn more about art history and develop her craft...but at the last minute her mom decides to come too.

I read this one back in 2014 - isn't the cover great?! I think it is one of my all-time favorite book covers. This book is about two cousins, Nick and Helena, who grew up " in a world of sun bleached boat docks, tennis whites, and midnight gin parties at Tiger House, the family home on Martha's Vineyard." Doesn't that sound like a great summer? After going their separate ways to start their "real lives" the cousins come back together in an attempt to rediscover their early optimism...only to reveal dark family secrets.

This is another oldie but goodie - I first posted about this one on Instagram in 2013. This is the first of two nonfiction books on my list of 5 Books to Read on the Beach. This book draws parallels between Monica Wood's family and The Kennedy's. Monica's family who suffered great tragedy when her father (and the sole breadwinner in the family) suddenly died and The Kennedy's (along with the nation as a whole) suffered when President Kennedy was assassinated.

I mean, that title alone...am I right?? And who wouldn't want to Instagram that book cover with the beach in the background? This book is about a book club and told the life stories of each member over the span of 30 years. I cried a lot, especially thinking about how special my own book clubs are.

Okay, hear me out on this one...because it is one of my all-time favorite memoirs. As the saying by George R.R. Martin goes, "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies...The man who never reads lives only one." This book is a departure from my usual choices, but I'm so happy that I included this as one of the "thousand lives" I live through reading. I found Holly Madison to be very likable and quite relatable. In another life we could have been friends. :)
