The Kelly Kapoor
The Kelly Kapoor
I was watching reruns of The Office a few days ago (love that show!) and one of them was the Casino Night episode. When Ryan first arrives he orders Kelly a drink…
Ryan Howard: One beer and one Seven and Seven with eight maraschino cherries, sugar on the rim, blended if you can.
Jim Halpert: So, that's still going on, huh? You and Kelly?
About The Office:

Premiering in 2005, this American sitcom, adapted from the original UK series of the same name, offers a humorous and often cringe-worthy glimpse into the mundane and absurd aspects of office life at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Created by Greg Daniels, the show's unique format employs a documentary crew filming the daily lives of the company's employees, providing a hilarious and often awkward blend of humor and genuine human moments. Led by an ensemble cast featuring Steve Carell as the bumbling regional manager Michael Scott, the show showcases a range of diverse characters, each contributing their own quirks and idiosyncrasies to the workplace dynamic. With its witty writing, memorable characters, and relatable workplace humor, "The Office" has earned a dedicated fan base and remains a classic in the realm of sitcoms.
Who is Kelly Kapoor?
Kelly Kapoor is a fictional character from the television show "The Office," portrayed by actress Mindy Kaling. Kelly is an eccentric and talkative customer service representative at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. Her character is known for her bubbly personality, obsession with pop culture, and tendency to speak her mind without filter. What is a Seven and Seven?
The combination of 7Up (a lemon-lime flavored soda) and whiskey is a simple and popular mixed drink. This cocktail is often referred to as a "Seven and Seven" or a "7 and 7." The name is derived from the two main ingredients: 7Up and Seagram's Seven Crown, an American blended whiskey. The cocktail is easy to make and is appreciated for its refreshing and slightly sweet taste.
To prepare a 7 and 7, you typically fill a highball glass with ice, pour about 1 to 1.5 ounces of whiskey (Seagram's Seven Crown is commonly used) over the ice, and then top it off with 7Up. The proportions can be adjusted based on personal preference, with some people opting for a stronger whiskey flavor or a more diluted mix.
The lemon lime soda adds effervescence and a touch of sweetness to the whiskey, making it a refreshing choice, especially in warmer weather. It's a casual and approachable cocktail, often favored for its simplicity and the complementary flavors of the two main components. As with any cocktail, individual preferences vary, so feel free to experiment with the ratios to find the balance that suits your taste.
So here’s my take on “The Kelly Kapoor”:
7Up And Whiskey Ingredients:
1.5 oz Seagram’s 7 Crown
5 oz 7UP
Sugar for the rim
Maraschino cherries for garnish
7Up And Whiskey Instructions:
Dip your highball glass in 7up, then dip in sugar. I used Bourbon sugar, just to make it extra fancy. I’m not sure Kelly would have approved. Fill the glass with ice and pour in whiskey and 7up. Stir. Top with 8 maraschino cherries. As you can see, I did not opt to blend it. But I’d love to see your pictures, if you try it! #ahastycocktail
