Megan Tusing: Audiobook Narrator
A West Virginia native now based in Brooklyn, Megan is an actor and award-winning audiobook narrator. She developed a love of storytelling and a passion for language at a young age when first introduced to William Shakespeare, which eventually led her to pursue a career in acting. She has recorded over 250 audiobooks from her home studio with such publishers as Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, Hachette, Harper Collins, and more. Additionally, she has numerous credits in stage, film, and television. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from James Madison University. When not on stage or in the booth, she can be found knitting in the company of good friends.
How did you prepare to narrate The Wedding Veil by Kristy Woodson Harvey?
This is my general process for preparing for an audiobook performance: prior to recording, I read through the manuscript to get a feel for the material. I pay particular attention to the location, accents, and tone of the text. As this is a multi-cast, I make sure to notate when characters I voice appear in another narrator's chapters. Then I coordinate with my fellow castmates about my acting choices to make sure we align. Once in the booth, I like to pick a song that reminds me of the book and play it before each recording session to help me drop into the character. Then, I hit record and away we go!
