HBL Note: The title of this book brings back warm and fuzzy memories for me. It is such a nostalgic feeling, thinking back on Sunday afternoons and how they were spent in different parts of my life. It made me smile when I read it. Then, I read the first sentence of the synopsis and those warm and fuzzy feelings disappeared. “On the afternoon of Easter Sunday, 1992, Ben Ewell’s brother, sister-in-law, and niece were all murdered.” It was a gut punch to read, I can’t imagine how it must’ve felt to live through it. Sunday Afternoons and Other Times Remembered is Ben Ewell’s debut book, a memoir about the times before the murders, those peaceful Sunday afternoons that came to my mind when reading the title, through to his divorce and life as a single father. On the afternoon of Easter Sunday, 1992, Ben Ewell’s brother, sister-in-law, and niece were all murdered.
