Tessa Dare
Author Interview - Tessa Dare
Author I draw inspiration from: Jane Austen. Always Austen. Without her novels, I never would have become a writer.
Favorite place to read a book: In bed with at least one of my kitties curled up around me, and preferably all three.
Hardback, paperback, ebook, or audiobook: I refuse to choose! Hardback for reference books, paperback and ebook for pleasure reading, audiobooks in the car.
The last book I read: My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh (fantastic!)
Pen and paper, or computer? Again, both. I often draft my scenes by hand, but they don’t become coherent prose until I’m typing them into the computer.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Elizabeth Bennet, from Pride and Prejudice.
Favorite decade in fashion history: I’m no fashionista, but I love vintage 50s dresses.
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Librarian. Public librarianship was my original career, and even though I’m happy to be a full-time author, I miss being in the midst of all those books! I’d love to be a Rare Books librarian.
Place I’d most like to travel: I love traveling, and there are so many places on my list! Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Africa, South America. So, you know, that narrows it down.
My signature drink: A very, very strong Americano, served black
Favorite artist: As in visual artist? I love early Italian Renaissance art—in particular, the frescoes of Giotto di Bondone
Number one on my bucket list: Raising baby goats.
Thank you for inviting me, Ashley!
