Author Interview - Steven James
Author I draw inspiration from: Calvin Miller. He wrote a series of imaginative and thought provoking stories that weave in spiritual insights. I’ve always been intrigued by his books.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Hmmm that’s a good question. You have me stumped.
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I was in 5th grade, at recess. My friend Chris and I would write stories during class and we were bored. We decided we wanted to be authors when we grew up (and we both did)
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Hardback - I guess I’m just old fashioned that way.
The last book I read: Best Day Ever - Kaira Rouda
Pen & paper or computer: Pen and paper all the way.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Let’s go with an author: Ethan Cross - writes crime thrillers.
If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: Professional storyteller and family entertainer. I’ve always loved performing stories for children and if I wasn’t at home writing I think I’d be on the road telling.
Favorite decade in fashion history: The 80s - that’s when I was in high school and I still have this lingering desire to feather my hair.
Place I’d most like to travel: New Zealand (so if you are part of a writer’s conference there please e-mail me).
My signature drink: French Roast coffee black.
Favorite artist: My daughter when she was in kindergarten and she drew pictures of me (or maybe it was a turtle - it’s a bit hard to tell).
Number one on my bucket list: I would like to run a 50 mile race.
Anything else you'd like to add: Interesting factoids: I love science fiction movies, cheetos, & disc golf.
