Rachel Vinson is a bridesmaid for hire: part confidante, part wedding planner, and one hundred percent pretend BFF. Discretion guaranteed. Author I draw inspiration from: I find that I am most inspired by an author who didn't even write romance--Maeve Binchy. Her passing hit me hard, in large part because I knew it meant I'd never get another new story from her. I reread her books regularly. Love her work.

Favorite place to read a book: In bed. If I try to read anywhere else in my house, I am constantly interrupted. I also find myself reading a lot in my car, waiting in the parking lot while my daughter does cheer. I've recently gotten into audio books, as well.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Am I allowed to pick one of my own characters? Then I'd pick Noah Douglas of "The Seat Filler." I love him. I would also be partial to Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy, but I think he'd probably find me quite shocking and unladylike.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: Twenty years ago my oldest son was diagnosed as being autistic, and we needed to pay for therapies for him. We were a young, broke couple and I prayed/thought about/put it out into the universe and the answer I got was "write a book." Which I thought was stupid and promptly ignored. We did a multi-family garage sale (pre-GoFundMe days) as a fundraiser and I sent out a press release to local papers in an attempt to publicize it. One of the reporters came to my house for an interview and when I opened the door she asked, "Before I come inside, I just have to ask you, are you a writer?" Shocked, I told her I wasn't and wondered why she'd asked me that. She said, "Your press release was so well written I just assumed you were a writer." That was like a bolt of lightning striking me--I knew I was supposed to become an author. So I did.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Ebook. I'm listening to more audiobooks lately, but you absolutely cannot beat the convenience of an ebook. Much less expensive than all other formats, and you can take thousands of books with you everywhere you go.
The last book I read: The last book I read was "Waiting for Tom Hanks" by Kerry Winfrey. So, so good and such a cute rom com. I'm looking forward to reading more of Winfrey's books!

Pen & paper or computer: A thousand times a computer. I can't write by hand as quickly as I can type, and I find myself being frustrated when I try to write things with pen and paper.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: The book character I would most like to be friends with is Elle Woods of "Legally Blonde" by Amanda Brown. I don't know that Elle and I would have anything in common (other than a fierce loyalty to our friends), but I love her humor, her upbeat attitude, her intelligence, and her sense of style.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: For a long time I wanted to be a college professor and teach history. Then I got into college and saw what my professors went through and jettisoned that idea pretty quickly. I think I would enjoy teaching, though.
Favorite decade in fashion history: Honestly, probably Regency England. I love empire waistlines and yes please to everything the men wore (I will take Hessian boots and a fine linen cravat any day of the week). In more modern times, it is honestly the 1990s. I know I'm probably supposed to say something cool like the 1960s, but I was a teen in the 90s and love that era. I love that 90s fashion came back in and my teen daughter was wearing babydoll dresses with combat boots and chokers.
Place I’d most like to travel: I would very much like to go to Australia, but I am terrified of the many things there that can kill you, and how large all those animals and insects seem to be. I really would love to go to European capitals--London, Paris, Rome, etc.
My signature drink: Water.
Favorite artist: Artist as in painting/drawing? I don't know that I have one of those. In any field? Probably Adam Driver for acting--I think he's a truly gifted artist that comes along once in a generation. Rian Johnson as a director/writer--an artist who understands storytelling through TV/movies better than almost anyone else and is fantastically talented.
Number one on my bucket list: Something I want to accomplish before I die? I'd love to have a movie made out of one of my books. Unfortunately, that one is completely out of my hands!
