Author of CHAMPAGNE WIDOWS

CHAMPAGNE WIDOWS 2022 EDITOR’S CHOICE HISTORICAL NOVEL SOCIETY!
"Barbe-Nicole is a strong, determined woman, who defies Napoleon to make her business a success. Fascinating details about winemaking and everything that goes into it: the soil, climate, barrels, glass bottles, and the various blends of grapes. All these things and more affect the smell and flavor of the wine. I felt I could smell the wine along with Barbe-Nicole, because Rosenberg's descriptions are so vivid. Barbe-Nicole's narrative is interspersed with brief chapters about the rise and fall of Napoleon, and the evil advisor known as the Red Man, a devil figure disguised as a coachman, who encourages him to conquer Europe. Some of the most moving parts are the scenes where Barbe-Nicole harvests the grapes along with other women who were widowed by Napoleon's wars." ~EDITOR'S CHOICE HISTORICAL NOVEL SOCIETY
“This effervescent historical novel paints a richly detailed portrait of the enterprising Veuve Clicquot. The twinned plots of Clicquot and Napoleon Bonaparte’s rise and fall are filled with detail that give life to this far-off time. The prose is light, yet detailed, and peppered with moments of wry humor. Napoleon's characterization is well-crafted and give his character new life. Clicquot’s character is charming, and readers will love getting to know her. Rosenberg has a superb eye for blending humor with drama.” ~PUBLISHERS WEEKLY BOOKLIFE PRIZE
"Barbe-Nicole is captivating, particularly with her inheritance of "Le Nez" and the effect on her life. From grapes to pigs, the adventures she gets into with her nose are fascinating and are described in detailed and engaging ways. The champagne empire she builds is admirable, as is her relationship with Francois and its challenges. ~ WRITER'S DIGEST 2022

Author Interview - Rebecca Rosenberg | Author I Draw Inspiration From

Favorite place to read a book: In a bubblebath with champagne!

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: I would love to be stuck with Jack London from my novel The Secret Life of Mrs. London. He was a genius storyteller and would keep us all entertained!

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: When I was ten I heard the story of Baby Doe Tabor, a twenty year old, abandoned, pregnant and mining a gold mine alone, and how she became the most scandalous, richest woman in America. Women's amazing stories inspire me to tell them.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: paperback and ebooks

The last book I read: MURDER AT THE PORTE DE VERSAILLES by Cara Black I've been reading her exciting mystery/thrillers for years! All about Paris!

Pen & paper or computer: When I began writing, I thought pen and paper were romantic, but found it was too difficult to edit. And then when I typed on computer I would change it again. So I switched to computer, but set a romantic setting with candles and quiet at 4am in the morning.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Champagne Historian and Lavender Farmer full time. instead of part time!

Favorite decade in fashion history: The twenties! so jazzy!

Place I’d most like to travel: Champagne, France. I'm leading a tour there in June and making all the lodging, winery, and restaurant reservations for 25 people!

My signature drink: French 75: A champagne cocktail with gin and an elderflower liqueur-- refreshing, light, and takes me back to 1915 when it was invented in Paris.

Favorite artist: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, French painter

Number one on my bucket list: Egypt! We have cancelled our trip to Egypt several times due to covid. I am curious about the feelings that I may feel in that mysterious, spiritual place.
