Author of Madness

A girl named Ezra Adkins is brutally murdered in her own home and wakes up in a game called the Battles. It's a ruthless game of kill or be killed. Players have no escape; they come back to life once more only to be viciously killed again. The only way out is to buy your way out, used by Blood Points which is earned by killing players. The other way out is suicide, but suicide keeps players dead for good. Struggling to survive, Ezra befriends players she can trust. But as she learns the ways of the players around her, she starts to question what she's always known to be right and wrong. The line blurs between enemies and teammates. As Ezra hunts down players that kill the innocent, the world she's built for herself quickly crumbles into pieces. Once a hunter and now the hunted, she's running away from the players that want her head. And the demons in her own mind.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I've always had a knack for writing when I was young. I'm still young, (15), but I remember it started back on a plane ride. I had nothing better to do other than create a story of my own. The 13-hour flight quickly melted away as I typed in my computer. That was four years ago. And after finishing that book, which I originally thought I was going to publish, I moved onto the next. I thought for sure I was going to publish that one, but I was wrong. My third novel, Madness, is my first novel I've published. I never had any real sense of direction when writing my first two books, but after committing so much time to my third, I realized that writing is so much more than a hobby for me. My grandfather was an author like me, and he often published books about his war days. He passed in 2013, and I was too young to learn anything from him at the time. If only he could see me now.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Paperback. Always. Ebooks are more convenient because I can read anywhere, but I love the real feel of books. The smell, the pages, the world I carry around in my backpack all day at school, it's the real deal. Ebooks still immerse me like physical copies would, but paperbacks just add a finishing touch digital copies could never achieve.

The last book I read: Gosh, I can't remember the last book I've read. It's been a long time ago...I've been geared towards writing more than reading. But if I had to strain my brain cells, I'd say the last book I've read was Broken Lands by Jonathan Maberry.

Pen & paper or computer: Computer. I would never be able to write a 300-paged novel by hand. Especially since I'm left-handed. By the time I'd finish writing the first page, it would be chicken scratch. Smeared chicken scratch.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Marlow from The Devil's Engine by Alexander Gordon Smith.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: I don't know! As of now, I'm just a regular sophomore that wrote a novel and plays volleyball. I don't do anything else, besides gaming and procrastinating on homework! I don't really know what I want to be when I'm older, though I know I want to pursue a career in writing. If I didn't write, I'd want to be an attorney or business owner.

Favorite decade in fashion history: I don't have one! Fashion isn't my cup of tea.

Place I’d most like to travel: Japan or Korea. I love their culture, language, and did I mention food? It's my favorite (especially Korean!)

My signature drink: Boba tea. I love Milk tea with a burning passion. Any type of tea is favorable, really.

Favorite artist: Twenty One Pilots

Number one on my bucket list: Go the the Attack on Titan theme park in Japan! I'd want to see how short captain Levi is in real life.
