Author Interview - Michelle Major
Author of THE LAST CAROLINA SISTER and WILDFLOWER SEASON
“Meredith Ventner knows a wounded creature when she sees one. Though her temporary new neighbor may be—on the surface at least—a successful, drop-dead gorgeous doctor, she recognizes the deep hurt Ryan Sorensen is carrying, and it’s catnip to her soul. But even though Meredith is the youngest, scrappiest and single-est of Magnolia’s most famous sisters, she’s committed to expanding the animal shelter on her newly inherited farm. She can’t waste her energy on a man who’s only passing through town.”
Author I draw inspiration from: Barbara Samuel because she's lovely in real life as the stories she writes.
Favorite place to read a book: In bed with a dog snuggling me.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Jo March from Little Women.
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: When I read my first romance (Johanna Lindsay) on a flight from Denver to Salt Lake City and it calmed my fear of flying.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: I prefer paperback but mainly read on my Kindle so I don’t wake my husband.
The last book I read: The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah.
Pen & paper or computer: Computer for a first draft. Pen and paper for edits.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: For sure Meredith from The Last Carolina Sister – I’d also volunteer for her at Furever Friends!
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Animal rescue person, librarian, singer/songwriter – but I can’t carry a tune.
Favorite decade in fashion history: Late 90s and early 2000s – Lorelei Gilmore is my fashion idol
Place I’d most like to travel: At this moment: the beach. Any beautiful beach!
My signature drink: Moscow Mule made with Diet Cock and Bull ginger beer and grapefruit vodka.
Favorite artist: Joni Mitchell and The Avett Brothers.
Number one on my bucket list: Visiting Europe with my family (my son is a senior this year and it was supposed to be his senior trip – maybe not this year but someday!).
