Author Interview - Karin Tanabe

Author I draw inspiration from: Kazuo Ishiguro – “Never Let Me Go” is imprinted in my brain

Favorite place to read a book: The bathtub

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Christian Grey. Just kidding. Let’s go with James Bond. He’d get me out quick, right? Or at least have a martini we could share.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: When I was nine my class had a writing workshop where they turned down the lights and gave you blank journals where you could write anything. It was basically magic.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Hardback and ebook, switching back and forth.

The last book I read: Less by Andrew Sean Greer

Pen & paper or computer: What is this pen and paper you speak of? Computer and Notes app.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Bridget Jones

If I wasn’t an author, I’d be an: interior designer with a whole lot of journals.

Favorite decade in fashion history: Seventies. Give me some disco fashion anytime.

Place I’d most like to travel: Seoul (I love big cities and I’m a K-beauty junkie.)

My signature drink: London Fog during the day, Champagne at night.

Favorite artist: Romaine Brooks

Number one on my bucket list: Be able to say: “Oh, I’m afraid I can’t make it. I’ll be at my pied-à-terre in Paris.”

Anything else you'd like to add: There are a lot of books out there, I’m always very appreciative when someone chooses one of mine.
