About the book: Picking up where The Unfaithful Widow ended, Ten Years Later continues the author’s journey from widow to a slightly askew woman. A memoir written with warmth and candor on being single again, aging, and finding a creative path surrounded by dogs, friends, laughter, and a bit of craziness.  Barbara Barth shares stories on the adventures that followed her first year alone as she moved headfirst into a new life, listening to her heart, sometimes not so wisely, but always full speed ahead. Join her on the ride of her life, from owning an antique shop to moving to a Victorian cottage outside of Atlanta, and all the follies in between.  Going into the next decade with six dogs by her side, the author proves you are only as old as you feel, and happiness begins with a grateful heart. A funny and engaging memoir for anyone who wants to be their own superhero facing life’s good and bad moments.

Author I draw inspiration from: As cliché as it sounds, my inspiration comes from my life. Memoirs certainly, but when I write fiction, I still have my holy trinity of widows, houses, and dogs. I like to write about women facing challenges late in life and finding themselves. If you know me, I am a house freak and always have a huge list I follow on Zillow. And my dogs, well, they keep me sane and happy.

Favorite place to read a book: I love to read in my bed with all my dogs snuggled close by. Pile on a quilt or two and I’m in heaven.

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Laurent Letellier in the novel The Red Notebook by Antoine Laurain. He is a charming, quirky character who finds a purse with no identifying information in and tries to find the owner from the contents inside while falling in love with the women he imagines owns it. Very romantic and French and sometimes a gal needs romance.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: The least romantic thing to answer here. I started writing after I lost my husband. It gave me purpose at night and then what started out as a coping mechanism became a passion I couldn’t deny.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Paperback for modern books. I have a Kindle, but I buy paperbacks to keep. I like to hold a book. I don’t like new hardback books, but have a collection of antique hardback gardening books and adore them.

The last book I read: I’ve been helping friends editing their books so I haven’t had time to just sit and read for fun.

Pen & paper or computer: Computer, and I mean desktop, not laptop.

If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: Crazy lady. I do have lots of other interests from antique dealer to mixed media artist.

Favorite decade in fashion history: Current fashions are my favorite. But mostly I’m a jeans gal.

Place I’d most like to travel: If I could click my heels together and arrive in Paris, I’d go. I am not a fan of long airplane trips. And until I find a pet sitter, I am home at night with the pack of silly dogs. Really my favorite place to be.

My signature drink: Margarita

Favorite artist: I love all art from Victorian to contemporary, so have no favorite.

Number one on my bucket list: Not to kick the bucket.

Anything else you'd like to add: All my adventures are close to home. I think there is magic close by if you open your eyes and look around.
