It's Okay to be a Unicorn!
HBL KIDS: It’s Okay to be a Unicorn! by Jason Tharp
It’s Okay to be a Unicorn! by Jason Tharp is one of the most exciting books coming out in 2020. This picture book shows a unicorn pretending to be a horse so he can fit in his community, then he discovers how fun it is to be his true self.
Cornelius is known all over for his creative hat making. He notices all the mean remarks that are made by the residents in his community about unicorns, especially when the mayor asks for the most “ununicorny hat of all.” Cornelius is a unicorn pretending to be a horse.
Cornelius was invited to give the main performance at the town’s annual Hoofapalooza. It’s his chance to be his true self. Will he have the bravery to do so?
Delightful book, fun and colorful illustrations and a wonderful message about being true to our selves. The age range by the publisher is 3-6, but I would have no hesitation to share it with children 6 and up to discuss the theme of the book indepth.
“The key to happiness is accepting your unicorniness.”
