Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread with Vanilla Glaze: A Guest Post by Laurie Buchanan
I’m on maternity leave! During this time, a few of my favorite authors offered to step up and write guest posts so that this blog would remain active while I adjust to my new role as a mother. I may also be a bit slower to respond. Thanks for understanding and for being so supportive of me, my family, and my blog. Want to donate a few dollars to keep this blog running or perhaps contribute to my diaper fund? You can do so on Venmo or Paypal.
Pumpkin Spice Pull Apart Bread with Vanilla Glaze: A Guest Post by Laurie Buchanan
I’m married to a hobby chef and wine connoisseur, and we live in the Pacific Northwest. That works out well because I write the Sean McPherson novels—fast-paced thrillers set in the Pacific Northwest, featuring a trifecta of malice and the pursuit and cost of justice. And food!
The location is the Pines & Quill writing retreat (a figment of my imagination) located in the Fairhaven Historic District of Bellingham, Washington.
Pines & Quill hosts four different writers in residence every month. Each author resides in a secluded cottage where they write during the day, and then they gather in the evening at the main house, where they enjoy a meal together and discuss the day’s achievements and roadblocks.
The meals and wine pairings served by Niall MacCullough, one of the two Pines & Quill owners, are incredible! Here’s what two readers had to say:
“Buchanan transports the reader into the world of Pines and Quill, a place of gourmet food, literature, and tranquility. But don’t relax too much! Evil and deception lurk in the woods and the quaint cottages. A thoroughly enjoyable read!” —LAURIE STEVENS, author of the Gabriel McRay Series
“Amidst the mystery is sumptuous food cooked by the resident chef, a surprising murder just as the book begins, and a sweet dog who trots along aiding and abetting the romance and suspense throughout the page-turner.” —PAMELA S. WIGHT, author of romantic suspense
From an author’s perspective, it’s exciting to have a novel released each spring. You may have noticed that the titles are four-syllable “I” words. Why? You ask. I wanted a “signature” that would set them apart—think Sue Grafton and the alphabet series. Here’s the lineup so far:
2021 Indelible: A Sean McPherson Novel, Book One
2022 Iconoclast: A Sean McPherson Novel, Book Two
2023 Impervious: A Sean McPherson Novel, Book Three
2024 Iniquity: A Sean McPherson Novel, Book Four
2025 Illusionist: A Sean McPherson Novel, Book Five
Here is a to-die-for (pun intended) autumnal recipe from Illusionist, book five in the award-winning Sean McPherson series:
