5 Things You Didn’t Know About Kirsten Pursell: A Guest Post

I’m on maternity leave! During this time, a few of my favorite authors offered to step up and write guest posts so that this blog would remain active while I adjust to my new role as a mother. I may also be a bit slower to respond. Thanks for understanding and for being so supportive of me, my family, and my blog. Want to donate a few dollars to keep this blog running or perhaps contribute to my diaper fund? You can do so on Venmo or Paypal.

5 Things You Didn’t Know About Kirsten Pursell: A Guest Post by Kirsten Pursell

As the author of the memoir On Becoming Me: Memoir of an 80’s Teenager, there are few things more daunting than surviving that time in your life. But I did, and you already knew that about me. While that exposed my years of figuring out who I was when I was young, life has continued to give me moments. I am on version 3.0 of myself, the one that lets me celebrate where I have landed in life, pursue my dream of being a writer, and has no set expectations. 1.0 was corporate me; 2.0 mom me.

  1. As a beach lifeguard in Oceanside, I was run over by our own rescue boat. My ear was chopped off except a small part that allowed them to put it back on seamlessly (pun intended). My ears were one of few body parts I actually didn’t mind. Go figure.

  2. I have been on two game shows. And I won both times.

  3. I have three children who are each exactly two years and ten days apart. Their due dates were exactly two years and five days apart. Number three was an oops.

  4. The first novel I ever wrote was called Harvard. My daughter just graduated from there. I had written the book ten years prior with absolutely no thought that any of my children might attend the university.

  5. I occasionally blog about being a parent of three athletes. They all played in college. Getting there was not an easy journey for any of us. I admit to my shortcomings; I think that resonates with people. I’m also an athlete who recently went back to competing. I’ve written about that, too.

Kirsten has a new later-in-life romance novel, Long Enough to Love You, out now and available from Amazon, about finding second chances at love even after divorce.
