No Judgments
Book Review - No Judgments by Meg Cabot
It is no secret that my favorite genre is historical fiction. But sometimes when I read many historical novels in a row, my brain needs a break. At those times, I turn to a good romantic comedy as a palette cleanser of sorts. A book that doesn’t ask to be dissected or researched or analyzed. It allows me to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the story knowing it’ll have a happy ending. No Judgments by Meg Cabot did all of these things for me.
This book is about Bree Beckham, a young girl running away from a past that included a wealthy boyfriend and famous mother who could be a bit overbearing at times. Bree ended up in Little Bridge Island, a small community she used to visit as a child. She finds a waitressing job and a great roommate; she seems to be settling in nicely until a hurricane is reported to be heading straight for the island. Bree decides to stick it out with the rest of the long-time locals despite her ex-boyfriend’s and mother’s pleas to come back to the mainland. And of course, since this is a romantic comedy, Bree meets a handsome local who is building a beautiful home on the beach.
If you want to read nothing but serious books about serious issues, then this is not the book for you. I have a book club who likes to read that kind of book, I would not recommend this book to them. But if you want to forget about your own problems and get lost in a feel-good book, you’ll love No Judgments by Meg Cabot. Life is serious enough as it is, I like to read a book that allows me to just forget about all that and have a good time.
