Bio:
I am currently an Associate Art Director at PRH. I grew up moving around the world, but have called Brooklyn home for a decade now. I went to graduate school at SCAD, in Savannah, Georgia, before moving to New York, where just about nothing went as planned, except my career at Penguin. I started here as intern for Paul Buckley and Roseanne Serra. From Penguin to Putnam, to Razorbill YA, and now with Berkley under Anthony Ramondo – Penguin has been my home. I like to read, volunteer at my community garden in my spare time, make art (usually of my family or my dog!), design for friends, take photos, and travel when I get the chance.
Inspiration for Good Luck With That by Kristan Higgins:
Kristan’s book is about a group of friends who, like most of us, struggle to find balance. The balance needed for this book was a welcome challenge, and the irony of the title did not escape us! I like that our final cover is quite open to interpretation. The floating bubbles are reflective and fragile. They are hopeful and transient, each of them unique…like each character in the book, and like every one of us. The photograph found its way to us from Spain, by a photographer named Laura Berdasco. It took a small amount of cyberstalking to reach her! Totally worth it. The lettering was inspired by retro camp signs, and handwritten notes. We are printing this on pearlized paper, which I hope will make the cover even more effervescent.
