Given the choice, would you choose hardback, paperback, ebook, or audiobook? The following authors shared their love of ebooks in my interviews with them…

…because I'm surrounded by tiny, curious hands 24/7, my ereader is the real MVP. I can throw it in my diaper bag with ruining the dust jacket and my kids can grab it without causing any harm to delicate pages.

Rebecca Hanover

Ebook's are my go-to's these days. I love the economy of them, and I love that they save paper. They're so efficient for folks who read book after book after book!

Ebook because I can read in bed (or a blanket fort) without disrupting people's sleep.

Lucy Ashe

Author Interview with Lucy Ashe

Ebooks are essential for me. I have a waterproof kindle and I always have an ebook on the go for reading in the bath. They're great for holidays, too, when packing is an issue.

C. D'Angelo

Author Interview with C. D'Angelo

I've grown to love my kindle because I bought a waterproof one and can read in the pool! I'm a Florida girl, what can I say? Not only that, I also love how light and small it is when traveling. I don't need to worry about books getting damaged or not bringing enough on a trip.

Michelle Adams

Author Interview with Michelle Adams

I love ebooks for their ease and speed of delivery, especially because I don't live in a country where there are lots of English books available.

Christine Jordan

Author Interview with Christine Jordan

In many ways I'm quite a traditionalist. For years I resisted ebooks, preferring to hold and smell the book in my hand, until one day I decided to buy a Kindle. I have to confess this is now my preferred reading experience, especially if I'm snuggled in bed, underneath the duvet. I only need one hand to flick the page! Hardbacks are lovely to display on your bookshelf but not very practical when it comes to reading I find.

Delise Torres

Author Interview with Delise Torres

After moving to Germany, I had to get rid of most of my books, so having them all in my Kindle has been a life saver. Living in Germany, it's also hard to find books in English, so buying ebooks has been the only way I've been able to stay up-to-date on the books being published right now. This has been very important as I've transitioned into becoming an author, since I have to read a lot more than I used to.

Sam Gridley

Though I used to devour paperbacks, I now prefer the convenience of ebooks, where I can set the type size myself and keep the book safe from my wife's anti-clutter crusade. Audiobooks are both too slow and too fast for me, if that makes sense. In ordinary passages I want to go faster than the narrator, but now and then I want to stop and go back a few paragraphs.

Jaclyn Goldis

Author Interview with Jaclyn Goldis

Nothing beats the feeling of a paperback book in my hands. But to maintain minimalist living, I veer toward ebooks and reserve paperbacks only for those cherished books I intend to re-read. Plus, I live in Tel Aviv—English books are more limited in stores, so ebook is clutch when I don’t want to wait weeks for shipments from overseas.

Alice Henderson

I love all of them. I collect antique hardbacks and have some gorgeous editions. Paperbacks are lightweight and portable. And I enjoy listening to audiobooks when I travel. Most often, though, I read ebooks on my ereader, and it's fabulous to be able to carry around a thousand books on one small device.

Jenny Colgan

Author Interview with Jenny Colgan

It's wildly unfashionable but I love an ebook. I love reading in bed without disturbing my husband, I love having thousands of books at my fingertips, and I love changing the font at different times of day.

When I'm walking the dog or driving, audiobooks. Some of the readers are just superb.

Iris Mitlin Lav

Author Interview with Iris Mitlin Lav

I mostly read ebooks and some paperbacks. My husband and I moved three years ago from a large house to an apartment, and had to give away some 1,000 books – despite bringing along enough books to fill five large bookcases. Reading ebooks helps solve the space problem in the apartment.

Kristin Rockaway

Author Interview with Kristin Rockaway

While there’s nothing like the tactile experience of turning the pages of a printed book, I have become a convert to the ebook lifestyle. It’s undeniably convenient – the ability to borrow books from the library in an instant, or take your entire TBR on vacation with you.

Mary Bly / Eloisa James

Author Interview with Mary Bly / Eloisa James

eBook, which means no more anxiety about whether my book will take me through a plane trip or doctor's waiting room. Thanks to Covid, neither of those apply at the moment, but I am so grateful that new books flow directly to my eReader.

Julia Sullivan

Author Interview with Julia Sullivan

I like ebooks because I can increase the size and darkness of the font so it's easier to read. When I'm running or at the gym, I like audiobooks. I just finished listening to Maggie O'Farrell's Hamnet. Wow. It was amazing.

Sariah Wilson

Author Interview with Sariah Wilson

Ebook. I'm listening to more audiobooks lately, but you absolutely cannot beat the convenience of an ebook. Much less expensive than all other formats, and you can take thousands of books with you everywhere you go.

Mimi Matthews

Author Interview with Mimi Matthews

Currently, it’s ebooks for me. I have a neck injury and holding a heavier book is difficult. I do love my hardbacks and paperbacks, though. I wouldn’t ever part with them. They're a sensory experience!

Jenifer Goldin

Author Interview with Jenifer Goldin

For me personally, ebook! I love to read at night when I can't sleep so having the backlight from my device is perfect. My husband can sleep (mostly snore), and I can read without disturbing him.
