Author Interview - Shea Ernshaw
Author of A History of Wild Places
The story of three residents living in a secluded commune deep in the Northern California wilderness, who piece together the disappearance of a mysterious children's book author and the man who was hired to find her.
Author I draw inspiration from: Alice Hoffman
Favorite place to read a book: In the garden on a summer day
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: January Scaller from The Ten Thousand Doors of January (because she could get us out of the stuck elevator!)
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: When I was ten years old and I learned that anyone could become an author--that it wasn't a career that was decided by some all powerful librarian (as I had previously believed.) I also began sending query letters to literary agents that same year.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Hardback always!
The last book I read: The Need by Helen Phillips
Pen & paper or computer: computer (but a pen and paper for taking story notes)
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Nora Walker from my own book, Winterwood. She spends her nights wandering the woods looking for lost things, which is my idea of a perfect night.
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Forest ranger or own a flower shop
Favorite decade in fashion history: 1920's (Flapper dresses for the win.)
Place I’d most like to travel: Denmark
My signature drink: Tulsi tea
Favorite artist: Currently loving Edward Gorey illustrations
Number one on my bucket list: Live in the U.K. for a few months
