Favorite place to read a book: My office. It’s quiet, the lighting is good, and I don’t get so comfortable that I doze off.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: It’s always been in the back of my mind, but the motivation didn’t grab me until I worked in Poland fifteen years ago. It’s very moving to walk those streets knowing the history of World War II.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: I like hardback, but ebook is easier to read and carry around.

The last book I read: No Ordinary Time, Doris Kearns Goodwin
