Author Interview - Pam Webber

Author of Life Dust

Life Dust is a historical novel sent in 1971-72 and is told from two points of view. It is 296 pages and approximately 87,000 words.
Synopsis
Nettie’s world is turned upside down when Andy, her soulmate since the sandbox days, is deployed to Vietnam. Struggling to cope with the constant worry, she dives into her work as a nursing intern in a busy emergency room. When she inadvertently walks in on a nursing supervisor and surgeon during their late-night tryst in the dark recesses of the hospital, the couple begin a campaign to discredit Nettie and sabotage her internship. Her only respite is a tortured man who is trying to cope with a second chance to die.

Half a world away, Andy is leading a military reconnaissance squad in a dangerous, unforgiving jungle when he receives orders to escort a high-ranking female freedom fighter, Bien, to a clandestine meeting with a North Vietnamese officer who may want to defect. Raped and brutally beaten by enemy soldiers as a young girl, Bien is suspicious of the officer’s motives but believes he may be the younger brother her attackers conscripted into the North Vietnamese army as a child. Andy believes they’re heading into a trap.
