Nicola Moriarty
Author Interview - Nicola Moriarty
Author I draw inspiration from: Marian Keyes – I love her incredible sense of humor and her raw honesty.
Favorite place to read a book: In a hot bath with a glass of wine!
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Hermione Granger (although I suppose we wouldn’t be able to chat much before she got us out!)
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: When I was in Year Five and my teacher (the wonderful Mrs. Walsh) read one of my stories out to the class.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Paperback.
The last book I read: Devil’s Lair by Sarah Barrie – a wonderfully twisty, scary book with gothic overtones, heart-thumping suspense and an excellent dash of romance.
Pen & paper or computer: Computer unless I need to jot down some quick notes while I’m out and about.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: When I was younger I desperately wanted to be friends with any of the kids from The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton so they could take me on adventures up The Faraway Tree with them. I think I’d still rather like that.
If I wasn’t an author, I’d be a: High school teacher.
Favorite decade in fashion history: The seventies. Swirling colors and flares, what more could you want?
Place I’d most like to travel: I’m a beachy person, so probably The Maldives
My signature drink: Caprioska. (Vodka, lime and sugar)
Favorite artist: Leigha White – something about her style just really grabs me! My favorite piece is called ‘5 Women.’ (https://www.instagram.com/leigha_white_art/)
Number one on my bucket list: Skydiving – I’ve been wanting to do it for such a long time.
Anything else you'd like to add: Three of my favorite things are: soccer, chocolate and spending time with my two girls.
