The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I have always been drawn to writing, but chose painting as my career for most of my life. When I found I couldn’t tell the story of Nick’s schizophrenia with paint, I decided to paint it with words.

Anything else you'd like to add: I believe that telling the stories of those who are marginalized is the path to greater acceptance and understanding. People with mental illness have been stigmatized and marginalized by ignorance, we need to talk about it!
