“The story begins with a dream to climb an unknown mountain in the Himalaya of northern Nepal. What unfolds in the mountains, however, forces me to question my values and my own identity, and eventually leads me to meet a little girl in a remote mountain village. Little did either of us know that from that moment we would completely change the trajectory of each other’s life.”

Favorite place to read a book: A comfy sofa, with nature/trees around
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Edmond Dantes (The Count of Monte Cristo, Alexandre Dumas)
The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: After reading JRR Tolkiens The Lord of the Rings when I was around 13 years old
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Hardback/paperback - as long as it's well written!
The last book I read: Caste, Isabel Wilkerson
Pen & paper or computer: computer when I worked on my book; pen&paper when journaling
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables, Lucy Maud Montgomery
If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Creating some other form of artistic expression.
Favorite decade in fashion history: current decade works well for me :)
Place I’d most like to travel: Back to the Nepal Himalaya to visit family there

Author Bio: Michael Schauch is a mountaineer, entrepreneur and storyteller who lives to explore remote places around the world and to share the depth and beauty of human connection he discovers along the way.
With early success as an entrepreneur at age 15, and over 20 years of global financial investment experience, Schauch brings his business acumen and altruistic heart to lead and support local and international mentorship, fundraising and educational initiatives. These include the education of girls and student mentorship in Nepal, outdoor youth leadership for those facing barriers to access nature and holistic Indigenous leadership development in British Columbia. He holds an MBA from Queen’s University and is a member of the Explorers Club.
He and his partner in adventure Chantal make their base camp in Squamish, nestled in BC’s rugged Coast Mountains and temperate rainforests.
