Art historian Cate Adamson. leaves her grieving parents in the Midwest to complete her doctorate in New York-only to find herself assiEned to an impossible sexist advisor. She struggles to impress him until she discovers a hidden painting, possibly a Baroque masterpiece. Risking her career, financial disastdr, and further alienation from her family, she flees to Spain with the painting to consult art experts. ln Spain she meets Antonio, an impoverished duke" who ioins her search while attempting to rescue the decaying legacy of his family.

Written with vivid prose, rich references to seventeenth century Spanish art, compelling characters and a historical puzzle,Attribution is the story of one contemporary woman's journey to understand the past and unlock her future.

Author I draw inspiration from: Gabriel Garcia Marquez for his imaginative storytelling and Ernest Hemingway for his efficient sentences and unspoken subtext.

Favorite place to read a book: ln bed - a chapter or so each night before I sleep

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Klara, the robot in Klara and the Sun, by Kazuo lshiguro. I'd ask her (it?) what does it mean to love? And could she please fix the elevator?

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: I wanted to be a journalist covering international politics when I was in high school and majored in political science in college. Fast forward to empty nest mom when I heard a lecture by some of the Lost Boys of Sudan who had written a memoir. I realized, like visual art, stories are a great way for people to learn about each other and understand the world in new ways.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Paperback and ebook. Audio book will come in 2023.

The last book I read: Laura Morelli The Stolen Lady

Pen & paper or computer: computer- except when I sketch out ideas- then it's the back of an envelope or any handy scratch paper.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Dancer- doing all those great Latin rhythm dances-lambada, samba, cumbias, etc. like Oleg, the fellow on instagram reels. I love the energy of Latin America.

Favorite decade in fashion history: I seriously want to answer my favorite decade would be in the days of early humans where fashion was about functionality and not decoration or social status. But that changed very early. While I appreciate the creativity of designers and do purchase some pieces from time {to time, fashion lures me into another world when I barely have time for the ones (art, writing, life) l've committed to.

Place I’d most like to travel: I have been to over a hundred countries but I have not made it to lstanbul nor Cairo. I love places where different cultures intersect over time and find the blending of ideas to be fascinating-

My signature drink: Sangria--l put my recipe on the bookmarks for Attribution or Campari with a lemon twist like the protagonist,Cate in the novel.

Favorite artist: Oh that is a tough one--l represented some wonderful artists in my gallery and admired many more around the world. Asking me to answer is as perilous as asking me to choose my favorite grandchild.

Number one on my bucket list: Take my grandchildren to Antarctica.

Anything else you'd like to add: For me, the best thing about publishing this book is the opportunity to have conversations with new friends, especially book clubs participants who ask wonderful questions and show rne many things in my Story they enjoyed that I didn't notice. I love bookclubs.
