Author Interview - Dianne Corbeau

Author of Six Days in Detox

Six Days in Detox is a compelling memoir about a woman who relapses after twenty-six years of sobriety. And returns to a state mental institution to begin her journey back into the beginnings of recovery. The story is a hard look at what happened internally (with Dianne) and externally (with the system) as Dianne gives it her all to survive the battle for her life. The fast-paced read is relentless and unforgiving at times, yet it brings you the fragility of the human.

Author I draw inspiration from:

J.D. Salinger. Catcher in the Rye

Favorite place to read a book:

The library

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author:

Age 4. I felt it inside of me and tried to explain it to my young friends.

Book Character I think I’d be friends with:

Holden Caulfield (Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger) I think we would be good friends because we would analyze the world together.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook:

Hardback and paperback I like best. I type in visuals for the reader, and they only show up in these formats. eBook does not put in the visual font. I like eBook because of its immediacy to the readers.

Pen & paper or computer:

My first draft is with pen & paper. The second draft I put into the computer with rewrites and edits. 3rd and 4th edits are on the computer.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a:

Painter.

Favorite decade in fashion history:

1940’s

Place I’d most like to travel:

The English Countryside. To paint the landscape. Europe. I’d like to travel back to Europe and experience it again. I chose this destination because in my twenties I traveled there studied and painted on a travel scholarship. I would like to experience Europe again with the knowledge of the years in between.

My signature drink:

Water

Favorite artist:

Jacob Pontormo

Number one on my bucket list:

Whitewater rafting
