Author Interview - Daco S. Auffenorde

Author of Cover Your Tracks.

“In the novel, Margo is eight months pregnant and traveling by train from Chicago to Spokane. The train unexpectedly brakes. Up ahead, a massive avalanche plummets down the mountain. Army Ranger Nick Eliot insists that survival depends on moving to the back passenger car. No one but Margo believes him. The avalanche buries the train, and only Margo and Nick survive. As the pair fight for their lives, we learn that they harbor dark secrets that have brought them together and threaten to destroy them. COVER YOUR TRACKS is a chilling story of love and hate, the devastating power of nature, and the will to survive.”

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: For as long as I can remember. I began my first novel the first year of law school after reading a John Grisham. But life took over and I set it aside. In 2007, I decided to pick up the pen once again.

The last book I read: I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb

Pen & paper or computer: Mostly computer, but I scribble a word or two on a side sheet for a rough outline. Sometimes, I make pictorial diagrams that make sense only to me.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Actress or Fine Arts Painter (watercolor)

Favorite decade in fashion history: Jane Austen and also late sixties (bell bottoms and midriffs)

Number one on my bucket list: Antarctica to see the penguins and jump out of a plane to conquer my fear of heights, parachute actually.

Anything else you'd like to add: I love going to art museums, especially to see contemporary art exhibits, and I might even be caught interacting with the works. I'm the one who the docent tells to step back. LOL!
