Favorite place to read a book: It's a tie between my bed and my couch.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Ishmael from MOBY-DICK because he's so honestly curious about and interested in everything and could tell great stories. Or Suzie Faulkner from NEVER TURN BACK, because she'd know how to get out.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: For an eighth-grade social studies project, I wrote a fictitious journal from the POV of a mountain man who joins the colonial rebellion during the Revolutionary War. I realized right then that writing stories was what I wanted to do.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: Ebook for the beach or an airplane. Hardback for the solid feel and the gorgeous covers.
The last book I read: Jar of Hearts by Jennifer Hillier. Currently reading American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins

Pen & paper or computer: Computer. I can type fast. My handwriting looks like Arabic script written by an arthritic.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Horatio from HAMLET.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: High school English teacher
Favorite decade in fashion history: Right now, 2020. Because casual is the new formal.
Place I’d most like to travel: Italy.
My signature drink: Red wine. More rarely a bourbon and ginger with lime.
Favorite artist: A tie between one street artist in Montmartre and another in Florence. We have a painting by each hanging on our walls.
Number one on my bucket list: To be able to write good stories for the rest of my life. And maybe go to New Zealand.

Author Bio: Christopher Swann is a novelist and high school English teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. A graduate of Woodberry Forest School in Virginia, he earned his Ph.D. in creative writing from Georgia State University. In 2018, Chris was a Townsend Prize finalist, a finalist for a Georgia Author of the Year award, and longlisted for the Southern Book Prize with his debut novel, SHADOW OF THE LIONS. He lives with his wife and two sons in Atlanta, where he is the English department chair at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School. His next novel, NEVER TURN BACK, drops on October 6, with a third novel due out in 2021.
