Hi.

Welcome to Hasty Book List, where I document and review the books I read. Hope you have a nice stay!

Author Interview - Amy Andrews

Author of Breaking all the Rules

It’s a funny, sexy tale about a woman from corporate-landia who has been pushed too far and is mad as hell. And the decade younger, small town cop who’s keen to help her break a few rules and turn a new leaf.

Author I draw inspiration from: The author that’s had the biggest influence on my writing is Jennifer Crusie. Those that inspire me – Tessa Bailey, Naima Simone, Penny Reid.

Favorite place to read a book: Bed! Definitely bed!

Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with: Trucker from Suleikha Snyder’s Tikka Chance On Me.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author: The day I opened my first rejection letter. (Yes, they used to snail mail that stuff. Yes, I am that old.) Until then it was playing, a hobby, a roll of the dice. But, in that moment, it became a red, hot imperative!

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook: I read mostly digitally and audio.

The last book I read: Tessa Dare - The Duchess Deal. So good!

Pen & paper or computer: Computer mostly. But pen, paper and post-it notes at my right hand for scribblings.

Book character I think I’d be best friends with: Agnes from Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer’s, Agnes And The Hit Man.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a: Nurse. I’d still be nursing. I was a PICU nurse for 21 years before I retired to write full time.

Favorite decade in fashion history: Oh dear, I am soooo not a fashion expert… but I do love the dresses women were wearing during the years before/during/after WW2. I’d also put in a vote for any fashion that’s made with stretchy fabric!

Place I’d most like to travel: I’m very lucky to have traveled to many places and there are many more I’d love to see but for now, I’d most like to travel to Ireland as my daughter moved there almost a year ago to be with her Irish farm boy and I cannot wait to see her again.

My signature drink: Pina Colada! Give me that pineapple-y, creamy tropical goodness any day.

Favorite artist: I’m assuming this is a music question? Hard to nail it down to just one although it would probably be someone in the country music genre. I am revisiting my teenage crush on Dolly Parton because not only is she an amazing singer/songwriter, but she also has an amazing social ethic that has real, tangible outcomes.

Number one on my bucket list: I can’t decide between - hit the NYT bestseller list, sign a movie deal and fly first class.
