Anthea Greco: Audiobook Narrator
Bio: Anthea Greco is a Los Angeles based Australian Actor. Her Italian background cultivated an ear for dialects and she has narrated dozens of audiobooks using an arsenal of accents. Her versatile voice enables her to bring life to characters of vastly different ages, and it molds to suit many a genre, from Sci-Fi to Romance, Psychological Thrillers to Historical Fiction.
How did you prepare to narrate The Lives of Diamond Bessie by Jody Hadlock?
It was important to author Jody Hadlock and myself to be as accurate as possible with portraying these characters' voices because most of them were real-life people. My next priority -as is the case with any book- is to catch every single adjective used to describe a character's voice and how they use it. Sometimes a description of an utterance can be half a page ahead of the dialogue, so I'll highlight or scribble a note big enough for my eyes to catch in time. Sometimes seemingly smaller plot points can be overlooked in the prep read so I keep track of characters' motives to remind myself when recording. I'd never want to be too on the nose about a character's duplicitous nature, for example, but there definitely needs to be a little seed of it in there.
