A Book Subscription Box from Once Upon a Book Club
Once Upon a Book Club gifted me this box for review - I knew immediately that it would be perfect for my round-up of top gifts for book-lovers! It is such a cute concept. Each month you receive a book, a 5" x 7" quote print, and 3-5 corresponding gifts to match a quote/item mentioned in the book. I got so lucky with this one - the book is The Glass Ocean by three of my favorite authors: Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig, and Karen White. This set came with stationary, a brooch, a portrait and a necklace/earring set. Some of the jewelry was definitely kid dress-up stuff, but overall the experience of opening the gifts as I read the book was fun!
2. A Bottle of Literary-Inspired Wine
This gift is perfect for someone like me who has too many books already! My reading schedule is already booked through March…that means I have a book scheduled every week for the first three months of next year. So needless to say, if someone gifts me a book I probably won’t read it anytime soon. A bottle of literary-inspired wine recognizes my love for reading and will actually get consumed in the next year! More likely that very week. Ha! Fiction by Field Recordings comes in Red, White, and Rosé.
3. A Bookish T-Shirt
I purchased this t-shirt from Literary Book Gifts - I thought it would be perfect for Hasty Book List events! Did you know that the number one answer from authors about which book character they’d be best friends with is Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice? Use HASTYBOOKLIST20 if you make a purchase! It is good for 20% off anything in the store, no minimum, and can be used unlimited times! NOTE: these shirts run VERY small. I ordered a medium and definitely should have ordered a large.
4. Blind Date with a Book
What I love most about Blind Date with Obvious State is that you don’t know what book you’re getting - it is a surprise until it arrives in your mailbox. Each blind date comes with a book, a literary candle, and one or two surprises. Some of the previous books have included The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, The Raven, and A November Night. I think this would be such a fun experience for a book lover!
5. A set from Juniper Books
I am obsessed with all things Juniper Books! I first heard about them last year when I featured Quarterly (which was my favorite book box subscription, but they are sadly no longer in existence.) The owner of Quarterly now works with Juniper Books and I’ve been begging them to bring something like Quarterly back into the world. Until then, I highly recommend a set from Juniper Books. I will be stocking up on sets over time after I buy my house - I’d love these little collection of books all over my house! They are the perfect gift for the book lover who also appreciates art.
