Book Review - Blame by Jeff Abbott

I love a good mystery. There is nothing quite like getting sucked into the "who dunnit" rabbit hole. And I was sucked into this one so fast that I finished it three days early. I just had to know who was to blame! I've said it many times on this blog, but when I need a book that is sure to entertain me...I choose a mystery (or a historical fiction, but that may be unique to me....)

Blame by Jeff Abbott is about a high school girl, Jane, who was in a car crash that killed her friend. Jane was in a coma for a little while and when she woke she had lost her memory - she didn't even recognize her own mother. After some time, most of her memory came back except for the past 3 years. Starting with the death of her dad and ending when she woke from the coma. For Jane, the worst part about not being able to remember the past is that your friends and family get to rewrite history for you. What happened in those three years? Who was Jane? Why was she driving the car in an area she had no reason to be in? And most of all, who is to blame for the crash and the death of her friend?

I had so much fun reading this one. It was the perfect choice for when I needed to just really enjoy a good book. Sometimes I'm weary of an amnesia plot line...to me it just seems like the easy choice for inserting a conflict. But I thought Jeff Abbott did a good job of making the reader understand what it was like for Jane to not remember those three years. What I liked least about the book was that the secret of those three years Jane couldn't remember was so much worse than I had imagined - like yikes! But I guess it gave the characters extra motivation for their various reactions to the crash. So in the end, I'd recommend this one, especially if you're a fan of mystery,
