In the Unlikely Event
Book Review - In the Unlikely Event by Judy Blume
Another great story from another author I adored reading when I was younger. I'm enjoying my return to old favorites. I chose this one solely because Judy Blume wrote it and I was feeling such nostalgia for childhood classics such as Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret?
This story is about a series of plane crashes in a small New Jersey town in the 1950s. The main character, Miri Ammerman, returns to her hometown to commemorate the "worst year of her life." A year when she fell in love for the first time, when air travel was new, exciting, but also a bit frightening. What I didn't know at the time was that this book is loosely based on events that Judy Blume experienced growing up.
If you're looking for a nice, easy read with a story that will capture you quickly, this book is an excellent choice.
